Chislet Colliery Bowlers Aim to Strike £8,000 for Pilgrims
On Sunday 1st August 2010, the seventh mixed triples tournament in the Chislet Colliery Bowling year takes place. First inaugurated at the club by Jim Harlow and his fellow club members, this is one of the most successful events in the outdoor green bowling calendar. Since it first began in 2004, the event has raised an impressive total of £7,000 for Pilgrims Hospices, and Jim is hopeful of raising a further £1,000 this year.
In order for Jim to achieve this he needs the help of the local community - perhaps you are able to offer donations or raffle prizes? Perhaps you know of a local business or individual that would like to become a sponsor of the event?
Shiralee Riddell, Lottery Sales Manager, wished the event success, saying: "Jim has been supporting Pilgrims Hospices for many years, both through his fundraising efforts with the bowling club and as one of our volunteer lottery collectors. Pilgrims Hospices needs to raise over £8 million every year, 75% of which is generated by the local community, and we are hugely grateful for the contribution made by Jim and his fellow club members. They work hard each year to organise the bowling event and we hope that the local community will get behind the club and support the tournament."
