Volunteers

Our volunteers are vital to the work of our three hospices, without them we couldn't continue to provide such a high level of patient care and support.

Around 1,000 volunteers are involved with Pilgrims Hospices, across all three sites and in the community. Volunteer support means that we need fewer members of paid staff so 83 pence in every pound goes straight to patient care.

We are always looking for new volunteering opportunities so please let us know how you would like to help.

Where you can volunteer:

  • Hospice reception
  • Day Hospice
  • Hairdressing salon
  • Driving
  • Flower arranging
  • Gardening (Ashford and Thanet)
  • Hospice shops
  • The ebay office
  • Fundraising

We are always open to suggestions about where your skills could be best used. Let us know how you want to help and we’ll do our best to fit you in.

When you can volunteer

Some of the volunteering opportunities, especially at the hospice sites are based on a shift pattern.

Hospice reception shifts vary from site to site.  Day hospice volunteering is 9am - 3.15pm on the three days that each day hospice runs. You can come for one day or all three. Shop volunteers usually work in the morning or afternoon. All times can be varied so please don't be put off if they don't suit, any time you can give will be very welcome.

Please contact the relevant person to find out more information or to register as a volunteer.
