Clinical Nurse Specialist

Clinical nurse specialists work as part of the hospices Multi-Professional Team. The role of the nursing team is both advisory and educational with an aim to support patients and those close to them, during their illness.

The nurses provide specialist knowledge, skills and experience relating to the care of patients with complex symptoms e.g. pain, sickness and other symptoms.

They are also knowledgeable about other local help available that may be able to offer you further help and support.

The community visiting service is available between the hours of 8.30am-4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

At weekends and bank holidays, the service offered is largely provided via telephone support and advice however home visits may be offered depending on need.

Although the role is the same as that of a Macmillan nurse, we are not called "Macmillan" nurses because we are funded by Pilgrims Hospices.
